Please read carefully
1. Entries close on the date indicated below – However the sale may be full before the closing date and an early response is recommended to ensure acceptance of entries.
2. ENTRY FEES MUST ACCOMPANY THE ENTRY FORM. Commission will be deducted from the sale price and the balance forwarded to the Vendor within Two Weeks of the sale – If you have not received payment within three weeks, please contact the auctioneers – ‘Messers Williams & Watkins Auctioneers’ – immediately on 01989 762225.
3. Vendors may stipulate a Reserve Price for any lot. Please check on the morning of the sale that reserves have been placed on your lots and that they are correct. – Reserves must be in Whole £s per Bird. If a lot fails to reach the reserve price it will be passed and no commission will be charged. Entry fees are Not Refundable.
4. All stock must be Pure-bred, of Good Quality and be True to Type. They must also be 100% Healthy and in Clean Condition. Any entry which does not comply with these requirements will be rejected and no refund of entry fee will be made – It is in your own interest to ensure that only good birds are entered.
5. A maximum of Four Birds per Lot will apply and in no circumstances will more be allowed except in the following cases: Hen with Chicks – ie a broody mother or foster with babies – Such entries to be sold as a group and any reserve should be for the lot, not per bird. Cage and Aviary Bird Entries – limited to small species such as Quail, Parakeets, Finches etc. – Bidding for these lots will be per bird.
Note: both of the above must be entered in suitable display boxes/cages which can be sold with the birds.
6. Except where a Hen with Chicks entry has been accepted no bird should be less than 12 weeks old in the case of Poultry, Pheasants, Peafowl etc., and 7 weeks old in the case of Waterfowl.
7. Alteration or Substitution of lots on the day of sale may only be made at the discretion of the Sale Organiser – As prospective buyers may travel long distances on the strength of catalogue entries every effort should be made to ensure that all birds, as entered, are available on the day. Any alteration from your original entry must be clearly displayed on the cage, and the Auctioneer’s staff in the market office be informed prior to sale.
8. No advertising will be allowed on cages/pens at any time. Advertising space is available in the catalogue. Please ask.
9. All lots must be removed within one hour of the end of selling. Any lots left after this will be sold for the best offer available at that time, regardless of any reserve, and that amount will be paid to the Owner, less the usual commission.
10. Vendors are responsible for the safety (cable ties to secure cages are available from the equipment stand) and well being of their birds (including the provision of containers for water & feeding etc) up until the fall of the hammer and purchasers are responsible immediately thereafter.
11. All Equipment must be in safe, clean and in good working order (for example, if selling an incubator it must maintain the correct temperature and if automatic the turning mechanism must work, drinkers must hold water and not leak etc, etc). Any faults must be declared in writing on the lot on the day of the sale - failure to do this will result in payment for the lot being witheld and the lot being returned to you at your expense. Purchasers will have until 10 am on the Thursday following the sale to report any faults not declared. Items can be sold 'as seen' where there is no comeback - but this must be stated on the entry form. Any lot not in saleable condition will be rejected and no refund of Entry Fee will be made.
